Holding over 41 US Patents on separation technologies, Archimedes’ first application of the technology is the Archimedes Filter, currently operating as a full-scale demonstration unit. The Archimedes Filter will be the first separation process to separate plasma ions into two light and heavy fractions for the safe and efficient disposal of waste material from nuclear waste sites.

In the longer term, the Archimedes technology can be used broadly to isolate ions of different atomic elements, with potential applications in the medical, semiconductor, nuclear power and other industries.
